Storyist Software Application Privacy Policy

This page describes the information that may be collected by versions of Storyist prior to version 4.2, how we may use it, and how you can opt out if you want to. Privacy is important to us, and we believe that you have the right to privacy when using our apps. If you have questions, please contact us. We'd be happy to discuss it with you.

What information do we collect?

With your permission, Storyist for macOS and Storyist for iOS may automatically collect:

• Diagnostics and usage information—This information helps us to identify the causes of app crashes, improve performance, and to better support our customers’ system configurations in future releases.
• Personal information necessary to complete in-app purchases—If you choose to purchase our Storyist for macOS from us, we need to collect some personal information process the transaction.

Diagnostics and Usage Information

When you first run the app, Storyist will ask for permission to share diagnostics and usage information with us. If you agree, Storyist can collect the following:

• The application name and App Store identifier.
• The application bundle identifier and build version.
• The application lifecycle events (e.g., information about when the application launches, quits, or crashes).
• The application state when it crashes.
• The operating system name and version number.
• The device model name.
• The device IP address.
• The device language and country settings.
• The device Identifier For Advertising (IDFA) and associated opt-­out preference. (iOS only)
• The device jailbreak status. (iOS only)

We use Crashlytics, a crash reporting and analytics product from Google Inc, to collect this information. Google may aggregate the information in a non-­personally identifiable way in accordance with their privacy policy.

If you don’t want Storyist to collect this information, you can opt-out as follows:

• On Storyist for macOS: Visit the General pane in the Preferences window, uncheck the "Share diagnostics and usage info" checkbox, and restart the app.
• On Storyist for iOS: Visit the Storyist home page, tap the More menu and choose Diagnostics, and turn the “Share diagnostics & usage info” switch off, and restart the app.

If you're running a version of Storyist for macOS downloaded from the Storyist website and have enabled automatic software update checking, Storyist can also collect basic system information when checking for updates. This information may include:

• The application name.
• The application bundle identifier and build version.
• The operating system name and version number.
• The device model name.
• The device IP address.

If you don’t want Storyist for macOS to collect this information, you can opt-out by opening the General pane of the Storyist preferences window and setting the Check for Updates popup to Manual.

Note: For apps downloaded from the App Store or Mac App Store, update checking is handled by the operating system, not the app, so you won't see a setting for it in the preferences window.

In-App Purchases

Storyist for macOS and Storyist for iOS both use in-app purchases to unlock the app after the free trial period ends.

Versions of Storyist for macOS downloaded from the Storyist website use software from Paddle to process these purchases.

If you choose to purchase a license in the app, you will be asked to provide the personal information necessary to complete the transaction. This information includes:

• Your name.
• Your email address.
• Your country.
• Your zip code.
• Your credit card information.

Paddle handles your personal information in accordance with their privacy policy at https://paddle.com/privacy-end-user/. After checkout is complete, Paddle shares your name and email address with us. We may use this information in the following ways:

• To provide customer service. We may, for example, use your email address to look up your license code for you if you misplace it or to send you a copy of your invoice.
• To send you email. If you select the option to receive email at checkout, you may receive email from us that includes company news, updates, or related product or service information. We don’t share your email address with anyone, and you can opt-out at any time by contacting us.

Note: For apps downloaded from the App Store or Mac App Store, in-app purchases are handled by the operating system. Apple doesn’t share any personal information with us.

Do We Disclose Any Information to Outside Parties?

We do not disclose the information to outside parties except as required by law.

Google, Inc. may disclose aggregate measures of the usage, engagement, and performance of its services that do not identify any particular user or device. You can find Google's privacy policy at https://policies.google.com/privacy.

Rights of EU Citizens Under GDPR

Citizens of the EU may exercise their rights under the General Data Protection Regulation by sending email to support@storyist.com.
